You have completed the course and received a certificate, but you lost it on the way back. Write a letter to the Principal of the college; In your letter, you should tell:

Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to inform you about the loss of my certificate when I was returning back to my hometown.
Let me explain to you how I lost my certificate. After the convocation function, I booked a taxi to the railway station to catch the train to my hometown. Due to traffic, I reached the railway station late, and I was rushing to catch the train. I lost the certificate in the taxi itself and that too I realized when I was about to reach my place.
I have already been selected for a company through our campus interview. I explained the same to HR, and they gave me two weeks to submit the certificate to finish the joining formalities.
My humble request to you is to provide me with an authorization letter that I can submit to the university to claim the certificate. It will be a great help which I will remember till my life.
