Some People Say that In Our Modern Age, It Is Unnecessary to Teach Children About the Skills of Handwriting

Some people say that in our modern age, it is unnecessary to teach children about the skills of handwriting. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Modernisation has brought about changes to almost everything. In fact, some skills have been neglected because of modernisation. At this age, people feel it is not important to train children to have handwriting skills because of modern technology. I agree with this statement for the following reasons.

Handwriting skill is a skill that is so important in the past reason being that writing is essential to learning and the only major means of writing is handwriting nevertheless nowadays, where technology is improving every day, we don’t really need the skill. This day, computer do a lot of our works which make life easier, including writing which helps to save time and stress; therefore there’s no need to bother oneself with acquiring writing skills.

Furthermore, handwriting skills are now irrelevant in education, where it is used to be so much important since most schools have adopted virtual teaching models, which renders handwriting useless, so most of the lessons taught can be saved on the computer for personal learning purposes without been written on paper. In fact, most tests and exams are now computer-based, so children don’t often handwrite again.

In conclusion, handwriting is a creative skill that is the most accessible method of writing, and not everyone will have access to a computer or digital writing. Hence it should not be totally neglected, but it is not compulsory that everybody have the skill.
