Overall, it can be observed that men are more employed than women. In 1970 the employment status of men and women were almost the same while in 2000 the percentage of both decreased from the preceding year.

In 1970, the percentage of men and women in Belgium were 80 and 60 respectively. While in USA and Indonesia the 80% of men were employed than women(79% in USA, 65%in Indonesia. In Japan during 1970, 75% of men and 55% women were employed.

In 2000, the percentage of working people decreased in all four countries. In Belgium, it decreased to 50 in the case of men and 5 % for women. In the USA it was 75% and 42% for men and women. 50 and 45% in Japan and 70 and 50% in the case of Indonesian people aged 60 to 64.
