Car Ownership Has Increased so Rapidly Over the Past Thirty Years

Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the past thirty years that many cities in the world are now ‘one big traffic jam’. How true do you think this statement is? What measures can governments take to discourage people from using their cars?

Increasing the number of car ownership very fast from last three decades in various cities all over the globe, in present era traffic construction is a major problem. In this essay, first, I will discuss the reasons related to this problem and also suggest some steps that higher authorities have taken to solve this issue.

There are multiple areas factor responsible for this; the foremost one is, in the technical world, everyone has a hectic schedule. So, if they have their own car they will manage their time easily due to the fact, they do not waste their time waiting for public transport. Secondly, masses feel more comfortable in their private car as compared to the bus and taxi. Although it inclines the traffic jam, people are more enjoyable in their own vehicle. For example, the metro city such as Mumbai, people spend more time in traffic jams despite this they prefer only their own cars rather than other option like public transport.

There are various measures that can be undertaken to address this problem. To commence with, government make some rules for everyone to use only public transport in some days of the week without any discrimination whether he/she belongs from a Rich or poor family. It is not only useful for the government but also common people because they save more time which they spend with their near and dear ones. For instance, in Delhi, cars are used with odd and even numbers. Which also decline the traffic. Moreover, higher authorities spend more money on public transport to make more comfortable and provide some scheme for those people who migrate every day for their work and study.

In conclusion, it is clear from the above discussion that, although own cars provide some benefits to the owner, this is a very harmful for the nation as well as environment such as air pollution and noise pollution also increases with the heavy traffic jams.
