I Will like to talk about a decision made by my father, although it wasn’t about me, my younger sister, while she was at school unknown to her, my father decided to engage her to a son of his old-time friend to maintain their relationship. I objected to it because my sister is not only too young for that but also doesn’t know the man in question talk less of having feelings for him, more so, the proposal was of selfish interest, just to maintain an old-time friendship. I called the attention of my parents to the consequences of choosing a life partner for someone and urged them to reconsider their decision which I am waiting hopefully.

Question 1:- What skills are necessary when making decisions?
Answer:- I have never thought of that, but I think for one to make a decision, one has to know the nature of the problem at hand, find out different approaches to solve the problem, entertain suggestions from people, find out the good and bad effects of any decisions taken, then choose the best from among alternatives at disposal.
Question 2:- How do you think computers will change the way people make decisions?
Answer:- Internet influences people’s decisions tremendously because there are several motivational speakers online, counsellors and so on. Looking at them makes one feel that they are perfect, and so will their advice.
Question 3:- How can people improve their decision-making skills?
Answer:- They can do it by first of all trying to believe in themselves, ensuring that they define their problems properly, weigh alternative solutions, welcome suggestions and avoid being influenced by unknown online counsellors or advice, and also take responsibility for their decisions.
Question 4:- Do parents in India allow their children to make important decisions about the future?
Answer:- I can’t say for sure because I’m not from that area, but I think parents should guide their children in making the decision if that is their culture.
Question 5:- Do you think that parents should make important decisions for their children?
Answer:- Children are independent at age 18 and should make decisions; it is left for the parents to guide them in doing so by making relevant suggestions for them; they should not do it for them unless the child is not of age or mentally challenged.
