The news is an important source of knowledge for all of us about the world, especially in this era of technology. Journalists are mainly responsible to bring this news to us but not all of them are true to their responsibilities and ethics. How much can we trust the journalists? With the advancement in the field of technology across the globe, news has become a vital and accessible source of knowledge to become aware of the happenings around us. Although journalists are majorly responsible as a medium of information, they are expected to stay true to their ethics, but this is not always the case. There are numerous reporters out there who aggressively intend to spread furnished truth for power or political gains.
The field of journalism, which was once considered to be an entity whom people could blindly trust, has no longer remained to be a line of an individual with ethics and morals. This is quite evident in the recent incidents the world has seen where reporters have tried to tarnish the image of an individual in the eyes of voters just for the political gain of the supporting opposition. For instance, a political activist who also was a doctor who tried to provide unconditional support to a group of orphans was then framed as corrupt by a news channel. The reason is that the opposition party wished to defame him for vote bank politics. Although the claims were proven to be false, putting our trust in journalism has now become quite sceptical.
Even though bribery in journalism is at its peak, it cannot be denied that there are groups trying to bring real facts to the crowd. There are social organizations that try to risk their career, families and lives just for the triumph of truth. For example, recently, there has been a local organization called Cobra, which always tries to stop false rumours and provide people with the truth they deserve.
To conclude, there’s no doubt that journalism across the globe has become a hub of corruption which definitely questions the trust we can lay in them, but it is now in the hands of the common man to identify and support those local organizations who are being killed by political and sponsorship prowess.
