The bar chart depicts the total number of Japanese tourists that travelled abroad, over an eleven-year period, between 1985 and 1995. The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market, over a ten year period, between 1985 and 1994.
Overall, it is evident that the number of Japanese tourists that travelled abroad increased significantly throughout this period. In addition, the proportion of Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market also saw a dramatic increase over the said period.
In diagram 1, In 1985, the total number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad was about 5million, and this witnessed a tremendous increase till 1990 when it became 11million.,However, except for the fluctuations in 1992, where it dropped to about 10.8million, it significantly rose and peaked at about 15milion in 1995.
In diagram 11, towards the end of 1985, the proportion of Australia’s share in the Japanese tourist market stood at 2%. However, this saw a dramatic increase to 4.8% in 1988, and steadily maintained increase and peaked at 6.1 % in 1993, though it fluctuated between 1989-1990. Finally, there was a slight drop of 1% back to 6% in 1994.
