Fast food is a part of life in some places. Some people think this has bad effects on lifestyle and diet. Do you agree or disagree?
Fast food is a part of life in some places, and this has bad effects on lifestyle and diet. I agree with the above statement. In this fast-paced and ever-changing world, people don’t have time for themselves. The stress of work in this competitive world is enormous. Eating habits have also changed gradually over time.
In big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, etc., eating fast food has become a part of life as it is readily available and easier to order these days. With the invention of food applications like swiggy, zomato, etc., we can order fast food any time from the comforts of our homes, and this has led to a drastic increase in junk food eating.
The impact of eating fast food on lifestyle and diet has been enormous. Childhood obesity has become increasingly common these days due to lack of exercise, increasing stress of studies, and high consumption of fast food. This also impacts the social and mental health of children, and they are more prone to develop depression, bulimia, anorexia, etc. Overweight and obesity have become a pandemic these days. In males, it even leads to loss of libido and affects the quality of sperms. In females, the cases of PCOS and infertility are on the rise. Non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes have also increased drastically because of a sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits.
Eating foods like pizza, burgers, pasta, chips, etc., is doing more harm to our body than good. Their nutritive value is very poor. They contain high quantities of unsaturated fats, which are difficult to digest, and as a result, these get deposited in our blood vessels leading to high levels of bad cholesterol and maybe cardiac arrest at later stages. So eating junk food should be avoided as much as possible.
I would like to conclude by saying that “a sound mind resides in a sound body.” A balanced and nutritious diet is important for physical and mental well-being.
