The government in many countries has recently introduced special taxes on foods and beverages with high levels of sugar. Some think these taxes are a good idea while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Lately, the government in some countries has proposed unique taxon foods and beverages with high levels of sugar in them. However, I believe that introduction of taxes is beneficial as it will reduce the consumption of sugar-loaded food, I agree it will also affect the lifestyle of people who cannot afford high quality-low sugar food.
Firstly, it is well known that the consumption of high levels of sugar-containing food and beverages has increased among teenagers of the society. The increased availability of such foods and beverages has led to serious health problems between this age group like obesity and cardiovascular risks which in turn has adverse effects on their lifestyle. Obesity is one of the major health problems in the US as per the reports of the World Health Organization. An increase in taxes will limit the consumption of such foods and will in turn reduce health-related issues.

However, it should be considered that we have different types of people living in society who all have different levels of financial background. Consequently, an increase in taxes on a high level of sugar-containing food and beverages will increase the consumption of good quality food. Furthermore, not all people have enough money to buy expensive organic-high quality food.
To conclude, although the increase in taxes is helpful in many ways for a healthy lifestyle it certainly will have ill effects on the non-rich class of the society. Therefore, instead of the introduction of taxes, healthy eating options should be promoted. People should be made aware of the advantages of consuming healthy eating varieties available in markets in the form of increased marketing, lectures, and seminars in schools and colleges.
