I mostly stay in my village, Ghal Kalan, because I love the open air there. But there is one house I visit very often, and I really like it. It is the house of my Massi Ji (maternal aunt).

However, in big metro cities like Delhi or Mumbai, people have no choice but to live in apartments because there is less space and land is very expensive 💰. But given a choice, an independent house is always the favorite.

Answer: I think the biggest advantage is security 🔒. In apartments, there are guards and CCTV cameras, so it is safe. Also, you don’t have to worry about maintenance like fixing the water tank or cleaning the roof, because the society management handles it. It is good for small families or working couples who don’t have time to look after a big house. Also, you get facilities like a gym 🏋️♂️ or park inside the society building itself.

Answer: No, it is not very common. In India, people are very emotional about their homes ❤️. Usually, a person builds a house once in a lifetime with their hard-earned money, and they want to live there forever. They want to pass the house to their children. People only move if they get a job transfer to another city or if they are shifting abroad, like going to Canada 🇨🇦. Otherwise, we like to stay in one place with our old neighbors.

Answer: A good house should have proper ventilation and sunlight ☀️. It is very important for health. Secondly, it should have a good water supply and electricity connection. I also think a good kitchen and clean bathrooms 🚿 are very important. Nowadays, having a fast Wi-Fi connection is also a basic need for students and working people. Lastly, if there is a small garden or space for plants 🌿, it makes the house look beautiful and fresh.

Answer: Yes, neighbors are very important, sometimes even more than relatives. In villages like mine, neighbors are like family. If there is any emergency 🚑 or happiness, neighbors are the first ones to come and help. We share food and celebrate festivals together. If you have bad neighbors, your life can become very stressful because of fighting and noise. So, having good and helpful neighbors is a big blessing 🙏 for a peaceful life.

Answer: There is a big change. In the past, houses were made of mud or simple bricks, and they had very big open courtyards for cattle 🐄. They were designed to keep the house cool naturally. But now, modern houses are made of cement, glass, and steel. They are designed for ACs and have false ceilings with LED lights 💡. The kitchens have changed from traditional chulhas (clay stoves) to modern gas stoves and chimneys. They look more stylish but are maybe less eco-friendly.

Answer: I think it depends on the person’s situation. If you are young and moving cities for jobs, renting is better because you are not stuck in one place. You can change the house easily. But for settling down with a family, buying is always better. When you buy a house, it is your asset 💎. You don’t have to pay rent every month to a landlord. It gives a sense of security and pride that “this is my own roof.”

Answer: Moving is very stressful! 😫 First, you have to pack everything, which takes a lot of time. There is always a fear of breaking things like glass or electronics. Then, finding a truck 🚛 to shift the luggage is a headache. After reaching the new house, you have to unpack and set everything again. Also, you miss your old friends and neighbors. It takes time to adjust to the new locality and find new shops for daily needs like milk and vegetables 🥦.
